about
From the time I was born, my mother--who had been very afraid of the dark as a child--was determined I not be so afflicted. So she frequently held me in the dark and said things like, "Nice dark. Isn't the dark nice and peaceful? I love the dark." Later, as an older child, I sometimes felt seriously persecuted by my parents and one time ran out of the house and into the dark night, down a grassy hill, and threw myself on the ground in my despair. The grass was soft, the ground was warm (it was summer) and the breeze was gentle and refreshing. I felt comforted. This memory led me to write "Sheltered by the Dark".
lyrics
VERSE 1
When things get bad, too rough to bear, And I am sure that nobody cares,
I go running through the dark.
VERSE 2
The night is clear; the moon is bright. I feel no fear; I trust the night.
I am running through the dark.
CHORUS:
My tendency is to hide from the world, The dark is my oyster and I am the pearl.
It’s okay to run and hide, But I have to come back inside, Eventually
VERSE 2
The night is clear; the moon is bright. I feel no fear; I trust the night.
I am running through the dark.
BRIDGE
Breezes blowing through the grass; The gentle sound is calming me
And peace surrounds me oh, so softly, Soothing me so tenderly, oh yeah---
VERSE 3
I love the dark; I'm not afraid. The earth is warm; my sorrows fade.
I am sheltered by the dark.
CHORUS
My tendency is to hide from the world, The dark is my oyster and I am the pearl.
It’s okay to run and hide, But I have to come back inside, Eventually
VERSE 3
Oh-oo, oh-oo, I love the dark; I'm not afraid. The earth is warm; my sorrows fade.
I am sheltered by the dark.
I am sheltered by the dark.
I am sheltered by the dark.

"Music in My Head" is the first song of John Bradley's I ever heard, and I loved it from day one. So much that I asked for permission to sing it myself. It's soulful sound really appeals to me. Vicki Morrison Goble
I'm not generally a fan of country style music, but I have a weakness for Vance's lovely, liquid guitar playing and McGill's clear and not-all-that country sounding voice. Vicki Morrison Goble
